“Beyond the announced R&D project, NEXT Biometrics said that the partnership would see its large-area fingerprint sensors integrated into MK Group’s ‘next generation smart card products.'”
NEXT Biometrics has another new partner in its biometric cards efforts. The company has announced that it’s starting an “R&D program” with Vietnam-based MK Group.
In a statement, NEXT Biometrics said that their efforts would focus on “biometric smart cards for banking and other applications.” MK Group is a card specialist, offering not only plastic cards but also card printing and issuance solutions, smart card readers, and related products and services; NEXT Biometrics described the company as “the leading provider of smart cards and digital security solutions for financial, telecommunication and retail enterprises in Vietnam and one of the largest in South East Asia.”
Beyond the announced R&D project, NEXT Biometrics said that the partnership would see its large-area fingerprint sensors integrated into MK Group’s “next generation smart card products.”
News of the partnership comes after NEXT Biometrics’ announcement earlier this month that it had teamed up with Munich’s Infineon Technologies to develop a reference design for biometric payment cards. As for MK Group, the company says their work on the biometric smart card project is “expected to begin in the near future.”
