NEXT Biometrics has shipped another 30,000 fingerprint sensors to Tactilis, the company has announced. The shipment is a call-off order as part of a larger purchase of 250,000 fingerprint sensors and ASICs, with 60,000 sets of sensors and ASICs having been sent to Tactilis to date.
NEXT Biometrics first saw its fingerprint sensor technology integrated into a flexible smart card from Singapore-based Tactilis back in the autumn of 2017. Last October, the company announced that its technology would be used in three major pilot projects of biometric cards planned for the Asia region as a result of its work with Tactilis.
Commenting on the latest shipment in a statement, NEXT Biometrics CEO Ritu Favre said her team is pleased with the ongoing partnership between the companies, and framed it in terms of NEXT Biometrics’ larger business strategy with respect to biometric cards. “As outlined at the January 2019 Business Update, we remain fully committed to our long-standing customers and business partners while we further broaden our network with leading players in the smart card ecosystem to fully leverage our product and technology portfolio for this upcoming mass market,” she said.”
News of the call-off shipment comes soon after NEXT Biometrics’ announcement earlier this month that it had teamed up with another smart card maker, India-based M-Tech Innovations.
