Precise Biometrics’ former CEO is NEXT Biometrics‘ new Head of Sales and Strategy, the latter has announced. Håkan Persson will take the position effective February 1st.
Persson left Precise Biometrics in January of 2018 after having helped to establish it as one of the world’s leading providers of fingerprint algorithm software for mobile devices. Now, he’s poised to help NEXT Biometrics as it seeks to commercialize its biometric technology for the emerging biometric payment cards sector and in smart cards generally.
“We are very pleased to have an experienced biometric executive like Håkan joining NEXT,” commented NEXT Biometrics CEO Peter Heuman in a statement. “His global industry knowledge and track record from business transformation will strengthen our ability to commercialize our solutions and drive growth.”
For his part, Persson lauded NEXT for its “leading market position based on its unique thermal technology which has been confirmed with recent announcements,” adding, “I am very excited to contribute to accelerating NEXT’s growth and be part of the new leadership and strategic vision for the company.”
NEXT Biometrics also announced another executive change along with Persson’s appointment. The company’s Chief Financial Officer, Knut Stålen, will step down from his position on February 29th, with NEXT’s current Director of Finance, Eirik Underthun, appointed to serve as interim CFO until a permanent replacement is named.
The news comes after a particularly big change last summer, when NEXT Biometrics’ previous CEO, Ritu Favre, departed the company after a two-year tenure.
