“…the smart door lock is designed to let authorized users gain entry with a simple and convenient biometric fingerprint scan.”
Fingerprint Cards‘ biometric technology has found its way into another door lock solution, this time in partnership with Kaadas.
While the latter brand originated in Germany, it now appears to primarily serve the APAC market. Accordingly, in announcing the integration, Fingerprint Cards said that Kaadas’s new smart door lock will be aimed primarily at the China market. Dubbed the ‘Kadaas K10-W’, the smart door lock is designed to let authorized users gain entry with a simple and convenient biometric fingerprint scan.
Fingerprint Cards has built its reputation as a leading fingerprint sensor supplier mainly through the mobile market, but has sought to expand into new application areas in recent years. Biometric locks are one such avenue: so far in 2020, Fingerprint Cards has announced integrations into a padlock from Aran Tecnovation and a smart door lock from Fueb Labs.
Both of those integrations involved Fingerprint Cards’ FPC BM-Lite module, but the company did not specify the technology being used by Kaadas in a statement announcing the new integration.
On that note, over the past couple of months Fingerprint Cards has also announced an expanded line of fingerprint sensors aimed at access control applications, and the integration of its FPC1025 sensor into a new HP Chromebook – further indications of the company’s success in diversifying its range of application areas.
