Fingerprint Cards has placed its FPC BM-Lite fingerprint module in a new smart door lock from Fueb Labs. The locks are geared towards the smart home market, and will allow residents to unlock their doors with only a fingerprint scan.

The Fueb locks will support RFID access control in addition to fingerprint recognition. The locks boast Wi-Fi capabilities, and are compatible with a mobile app that allows people to control a lock with their smartphone.

The FPC BM-Lite, meanwhile, has rapidly gained a stable customer base in India since it made its debut back in November (Fueb Labs is an Indian company). The module is built for IoT applications, and comes with the hardware and software needed to enable biometric authentication. The BM-Lite has already appeared in the ByteSeal smart card from India’s Elementik Technologies, and a new biometric padlock from Aran Tecnovation.

The news comes shortly after FPC shared its Q4 fiscal report, revealing that it generated SEK 1.46 billion (around $150 million) in revenue in 2019. The company is already off to a strong start in 2020 after releasing a pair of new fingerprint sensors designed for access control. Thales also received Mastercard certification for a biometric payment card with FPC technology.
