VSBLTY has joined the Founders Alliance of the Federated Innovation @ MIND. In this case, MIND is short for the Milan Innovation District, which is appropriately located in Milan, Italy.
The arrangement was made possible through an agreement with Lendlease, an international property developer that focuses on the development of connected communities. The company has signed a 99-year concession to turn the site that hosted Expo 2015 into a scientific and technology center that can compete on a global stage.
In that regard, MIND is part of a broader Urban Regeneration Project. Organizations that lease MIND space will have the opportunity to work together to drive technological, economic, social and cultural innovation in both the public and the private sector. More than 100 organizations from all over the world have already partnered with Lendlease, with VSBLTY indicating that it will take point on smart retail collaborations at MIND.
“We are both honored and delighted to be invited to join so many other industry-leading companies to pioneer the development of this world-class scientific and technology center,” said VSBLTY Co-founder and CEO Jay Hutton.
“This ecosystem will allow both individuals and organizations to progress through the sharing of resources and infrastructures,” added Leadlease Italy and Continental Europe Head Andrea Ruckstuhl.
VSBLTY, which offers smart display technologies including biometric facial recognition, is currently working with Teralight to develop new smart city applications, and previously partnered with Energetika to launch a massive smart city project in Mexico City. The company has also provided smart retail tech for Mexican pet stores and South African convenience stores in the past few months.
