ThumbSignIn’s authentication software is officially compliant with the latest FIDO2 standards. The Software-as-a-Service (Saas) platform will enable passwordless biometric authentication across a variety of different channels, including call centers, chatbots, and IoT devices. It can also be used for physical access control, and to log into mobile and web applications.
The FIDO2 certification is not limited to ThumbSignIn’s SaaS authentication service. It also covers the company’s REST APIs and its mobile software development kit, as well as its various User Interface widgets.
As always, the certification comes courtesy of the FIDO Alliance, and reflects the organization’s ongoing mission to move beyond password-based authentication.
“With the state of breaches today, many companies are looking for ways to bolster their user and employee security by going passwordless,” said FIDO Alliance Certification Director Rae Rivera. “ThumbSignIn’s certification highlights its continued commitment to helping make FIDO the global standard for the future of authentication.”
ThumbSignIn indicated that its newly certified technology will support biometric e-signatures in addition to authentication. The company’s multimodal e-signature solution is compatible with numerous e-signature applications, and supports face and fingerprint biometrics.
“We always aim to deliver the highest standard of security to our customers, so our FIDO2 certification was a no-brainer,” said ThumbSignIn Product VP Aman Khanna. “With this, ThumbSignIn is able to give our customers a wider array of options to help them implement the authentication solution which fits their need.”
ThumbSignIn is a subsidiary of Pramati Technologies, which unveiled the original ThumbSignIn app all the way back in 2017. The platform would then introduce Face ID capabilities a few months after that. Gartner has previously predicted that SaaS solutions like ThumbSignIn will become more popular as more companies start to adopt smartphone-based authentication practices in the workplace.
In the meantime, the FIDO Alliance is moving forward with its certification program despite the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization was recently forced to postpone its inaugural Authenticate conference due to public health concerns about the virus.
