The FIDO Alliance has officially certified ARIADNEXT’s IDCheck.io biometric authentication solution. IDCheck.io is designed primarily for remote identity verification, and leverages facial recognition (with liveness detection) to confirm the identity of a user.
Testing was conducted at the FIDO-accredited ELITT and LETI ITSEF labs. Together, they evaluated IDCheck.io to make sure that it meets the strict ISO 19795 and ISO 30107 standards. The former concerns overall biometric performance, while the latter specifically concerns presentation attack detection and spoof prevention.
IDCheck.io uses ARIADNEXT’s own FaceMatch algorithm to perform the actual facial recognition match, and then supplements that with BioID technology for liveness detection. In addition to the software, the FIDO certification covers all of the capture tools that come with the solution. IDCheck.io cleared more than 1,200 sessions and blocked more than 500 spoofing attempts during the certification process, successfully besting common spoofing techniques like photo prints and video projection.
For its part, BioID first unveiled its liveness detection feature in early 2018. The German company has since provided face-based identity verification services for TESIS SYSware’s password reset program, and has partnered with POS AG to enable SIM card self-activation. ARIADNEXT itself is based in France, and is hoping that the FIDO certification will help raise its profile in the digital identity space.
