“…with Dean, I feel we are taking another giant step forward in our march towards becoming the global standard in Face Authentication.” – Kevina Alan Tussy, CEO, FaceTec
Identity industry veteran Dean Mericka has been appointed as FaceTec‘s Senior Vice President of Growth and Alliances, further signaling the company’s competitive position in the booming selfie onboarding market.
Mericka comes to the company after a stint as Chief Revenue Officer of AU10TIX, another vendor of identity verification technology based on facial recognition and document reading. He came to that position in 2020, after a previous year serving as Chief Revenue Officer for biometric onboarding specialist Jumio. Before that, he was the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Imprivata, a biometrics company specializing in patient identification in healthcare, from 2016-2018.
In announcing his appointment with FaceTec, CEO Kevin Alan Tussy highlighted his “wealth of experience with customers in large, important markets around the world” as a key asset, framing Mericka’s appointment as one puzzle piece in a larger strategic staffing effort aimed at facilitating further global expansion.
“We’ve brought on several exceptional business development team members over this past year in places like Singapore, Brazil, and Portugal,” the chief executive explained. “And now with Dean, I feel we are taking another giant step forward in our march towards becoming the global standard in Face Authentication.”
Mericka’s appointment comes at a particularly exciting time for FaceTec. The company just issued a Q1 update showing a 321 percent year-over-year jump in revenues as a growing number of organizations have sought out sophisticated remote onboarding solutions in a post-pandemic economy that has seen a pronounced shift among various kinds of businesses into online channels. What’s more, VP Jay Meier suggested in FaceTec’s update that the company has recently been working with large government, banking, and multinational organizations serving huge populations, with announcements about such partnerships in the pipeline.
For his part, Mericka expressed his admiration for FaceTec’s technology and his own excitement about being part of the company’s growing momentum. “The FaceTec user interface is intuitive, the SDKs are simple to implement and easy to manage, and their security is the strongest in the world,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to helping lead the effort to take this technology to hundreds of millions of new users in 2021 and well beyond.”
