RSA’s SecurID Access Gets FedRAMP’s In-Process Designation

The Federal Risk Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) has granted “In-Process” status to RSA’s SecurID Access solution. The designation will allow federal government agencies and other public sector organizations to utilize RSA’s Cloud Authentication Service as they move forward with their digital transformations.

The Cloud Authentication Service offers support for a number of different authentication options, including passwordless options like device biometrics, hardware tokens, and FIDO protocols. Organizations can also use it with One-Time Passwords.

Meanwhile, SecurID Access is a hybrid solution that enables remote and onsite access control. In that regard, government organizations can use it to secure new and legacy software applications on both public cloud and private networks.

The “In-Process” phase itself begins on November 19. Any public agencies that are interested in RSA’s solutions can acquire them through the company’s channel partners.

“For decades, the on-premises component of RSA SecurID Access, RSA Authentication Manager, has been widely deployed by federal agencies,” said RSA VP and Public Sector GM Rob Carey. “Today’s announcement that we’re in-process for FedRAMP certification further proves our commitment to serve our federal customers as they continue moving from on-premise systems to cloud-based IT.”

“By serving as a formal sponsor to RSA for FedRAMP certification, we hope to help other federal agencies modernize their infrastructure and secure their agency mission,” added US Census Bureau Telecommunications Division Chief Kenny Harrison.

The news comes only a few short weeks after FedRAMP handed Acuant a Moderate Provisional Authority to Operate (P-ATO), which similarly gave the company permission to provide cloud services to government agencies. For its part, RSA upgraded the SecurID Access platform in August to deliver better hybrid services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The improved solution gives users a consistent login experience regardless of location, applying the same authentication procedure whether they are onsite or accessing work materials remotely.
