IDEMIA NSS Provides Biometric Security for Redstone Arsenal Army Site

IDEMIA’s National Security Solutions (NSS) subsidiary will be deploying biometric and digital access control technology at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Redstone is a massive, 38,400-acre site that serves as a primary training and testing center for the Army’s missile and rocket programs.

The actual contract covers a research and development project intended to demonstrate a next-generation access control system. To that end, IDEMIA NSS will be supplying Redstone with its ID2Access offering, which verifies the identities of registered users with biometric sensors. ID2Access also comes backed with digital identity management capabilities, and enables a smoother visitor enrollment process for civilians on the base.

According to IDEMIA NSS, ID2Access should deliver a frictionless access control experience, and provide operators with more insight into the comings and goings of people on the base in real time. The company won the contract through a Commercial Solutions Opening made available through the Engineer Research and Development Center, which is in turn run by the US Army Corps of Engineers.

IDEMIA has provided identity solutions for a wide range of state and federal government agencies, and the company joined the Smart Physical Access Control alliance in early 2021. IDEMIA NSS, meanwhile, has helped the United States Postal Service with its digital transformation.
