RSA is introducing a slew of new features that will improve the utility of its RSA SecurID Access platform both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The company specifically emphasized its hybrid on-premises and cloud model, which allows enterprises to manage their entire security infrastructure from one centralized location.
The goal is to simplify logins without compromising security. With SecurID, employees will face the same login procedure whenever they try to access corporate materials, whether they are at the office or trying to access the cloud remotely. The solution can protect legacy apps, and is compatible with virtually any form of authentication, including device biometrics and passwordless FIDO2 hardware.
New features include one-time activation codes that can be used to onboard remote employees more quickly, as well as a Failover Node Service that allows the on-premises component to field authentication requests if the cloud is down or running slowly. According to RSA, SecurID offers fully offline authentication, so workers can use it to log into a device even when they are not connected to the corporate network.
Finally, the latest update also comes with Threat-Aware Authentication. The new risk detection feature watches for anomalous behavior to identify potential threats and enable continuous authentication.
“While interest in transitioning security management technologies to cloud environments has increased over the past few years, the global pandemic has dramatically accelerated adoption plans,” said Enterprise Management Associates Research Director Steve Brasen. “With applications, data, and IT services distributed across business networks and public cloud environments, organizations require unified solutions to manage access to critical resources.”
“RSA was honored to be a trusted partner during the global work from home surge, helping our customers to rapidly provide a secure remote workforce for their employees,” added RSA Identity and Fraud & Risk Intelligence VP Jim Ducharme.
RSA provides its customers with Direct Upgrades on a monthly basis. The company stressed the need for a multi-channel approach to fraud prevention in the early days of the pandemic.
