Partners in Health (PIH) has become BIO-key’s latest PortalGuard customer. The non-profit healthcare organization will be leveraging the identity and access management solution to streamline the authentication process and make it easier for users to reset their passwords.
The decision is expected to alleviate the administrative burden on PIH’s IT department. The organization offers medical support to people who do not have affordable access to quality healthcare in their local area. The catch is that many of those people live in parts of the world that are quite remote, and often do not have stable internet and cellular coverage.
The partnership with BIO-key will give those users an easy way to reset their own passwords at their own convenience. PIH also expanded its use of PortalGuard to consolidate its corporate security and provide employees with single sign-on capabilities for Office 365, Zoom, Salesforce, and other workplace applications.
“Inefficient password management processes create security risks, cause work stoppages, and can negatively affect the user experience,” said PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “In healthcare, access to patient records and being able to process medical transactions is critical. PortalGuard was the perfect IAM solution to help PIH quickly and easily manage an international group of employees with unique needs and lower its operational costs.”
BIO-key has enjoyed considerable success with PortalGuard since acquiring the portfolio in early summer. Several academic institutions have already adopted the solution, and the complete client roster also includes government and financial organizations. BIO-key has previously credited PortalGuard for the strong results in its most recent quarterly report.
