Biometrics specialist BIO-key’s PortalGuard Identity and Access Management solution is now finding its way into three more academic institutions, thanks to a partnership with Campus, a provider of web and mobile software solutions for higher education.
The schools in question include Pennsylvania’s Reading Area Community College, North Carolina’s University of Mount Olive, and East Georgia State College in Swainsboro, Georgia. All of the schools have opted to use the Campus.app, together with the PortalGuard IAM solution, to enable Single Sign-On for student users. The combined solution will also facilitate password reset procedures across the campuses.
The schools are just the latest academic institutions to embrace BIO-key’s PortalGuard solution since it was acquired through BIO-key’s purchase of PistolStar earlier this summer. In addition to drawing multiple clients from the education sector over the past several weeks, PortalGuard has also attracted clients in other areas, such as a credit card processing company and a North Carolina municipality.
In the education sector, Campus has been an important help to BIO-key’s efforts. The organization had partnered with PistolStar prior to its acquisition, and became one of the latest members of the BIO-key Channel Alliance Program.
“We’re hearing over and over from the market that our two companies’ shared commitment to partner success and getting schools setup and running in a condensed timeframe has really helped our customers weather the pandemic storm,” explained Campus CEO Chase Williams in a statement announcing the new clients. “We’re thrilled to help schools regardless of whether students are on campus or remote.”
Thanks to the collaborations, students across the three schools will be able to use the Campus.app and PortalGuard solution to access things like online education systems, grades, and financial accounts.
Anderson Forrest, Reading Area Community College’s CIO, attested that PortalGuard helped his institution to migrate from a previous sign-on system to the new one over a period of just six weeks. “Users are extremely pleased with the new look portal and our password reset call volume has gone down,” he attested.
