One Identity has appointed Praerit Garg as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 24. Garg succeeds Mark Logan and will lead the company’s efforts to advance an AI-driven roadmap across its unified identity platform, which spans identity governance and administration, access management, privileged access management, and Active Directory tools. Backed by Clearlake Capital, the company describes the leadership change as a step toward accelerating product innovation and market execution.

Background And Experience

Garg previously served as President of Product and Innovation at Smartsheet, where he oversaw SaaS development and scaling. Earlier in his career, he led Identity, Directory, and Access Services at Amazon Web Services and co-founded the cloud storage startup Symform, later acquired by Quantum. At Microsoft, he contributed to Windows security features including Active Directory during a more than ten-year tenure.

Clearlake partners Prashant Mehrotra and Paul Huber said his background in both enterprise-grade cloud products and identity security software made him the right choice to lead the company’s next stage of growth. Garg said he was honored to take on the role, adding that One Identity’s foundation in AI-powered identity solutions positions it to help businesses strengthen digital trust.

The company reports that its One Identity Fabric architecture currently manages more than 500 million identities for over 11,000 organizations worldwide.

Market Context And Implications

Executive changes in the identity and access management sector often point to strategic shifts in platform consolidation and service delivery. Garg’s experience bridges SaaS product innovation and large-scale identity infrastructure, aligning with customer demand for unified platforms that reduce complexity by bringing governance, access, and privilege under a single framework.

For context, ID Tech has tracked One Identity’s previous platform expansion through its Balabit acquisition. More broadly, the IAM market continues to attract investment and consolidation. Recent examples include 1Kosmos securing $57 million to expand its biometric identity platform, AuthMind raising $19.3 million to grow its AI-based security offering, and KeyData Cyber acquiring BeyondID.

The next phase for One Identity will involve demonstrating how its AI-first features simplify deployment, strengthen automated governance, and cut administrative workloads while mitigating risk. Its strategy for integration with partner ecosystems and routes through system integrators and managed service providers will also be key factors to watch.
