Identity verification platform provider 1Kosmos has raised $57 million in Series B funding to expand its biometric identity and passwordless authentication solutions worldwide. The round includes a $10 million line of credit from Bridge Bank and was led by Forgepoint Capital and Origami Capital’s Oquirrh Ventures, with participation from Craig Abod of Carahsoft, NextEra Energy Ventures, Gula Tech Adventures, and the 1Kosmos management team.

This latest raise brings the company’s total funding to more than $72 million, following a $15 million Series A round. According to the company, the new capital will be used to accelerate product innovation, strengthen integrations with identity and access management (IAM), customer IAM (CIAM), privileged access management (PAM), and zero trust platforms, and scale sales operations across North America, EMEA, and APAC.

Global Expansion Plans

1Kosmos is preparing to open new offices in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, and in the Asia-Pacific region, starting with the Philippines. The company will also expand its presence in India and North America. These moves aim to position 1Kosmos to meet growing demand for high-assurance identity verification as organizations contend with increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.

The funding follows a series of security milestones, including Level 2 Biometric Presentation Attack Detection certification and FedRAMP High Authorization. 1Kosmos has also obtained certifications for FIDO2, NIST SP 800-63-3, ISO 27001, and SOC II Type 2 compliance.

Addressing Evolving Threats

Recent incidents, such as the Windows Hello biometric vulnerability, the activities of the Scattered Spider group, and North Korean “shadow IT” operations, have underscored the risks posed by identity-based attacks. 1Kosmos says its platform is designed to counter these threats with live biometrics and phishing-resistant passwordless authentication, helping prevent impersonation and social engineering attacks.

“While the funding is a big milestone, the key point is that companies today need a platform. Earlier, we had to approach them and suggest they try our solution. Now, due to increasing fraud losses, security breaches, and user experience challenges, the demand is coming from them. To meet that demand, we need to get to market faster and drive more adoptions,” said Hemen Vimadalal, CEO of 1Kosmos.

Every prior investor participated in the Series B round, and some founders and team members contributed personal capital. The company says this reflects strong internal confidence in its growth trajectory and in the broader market shift toward verified identity and biometric authentication as alternatives to passwords.
