1Kosmos has earned a perfect score in Level 2 Biometric Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) certification testing, affirming the system’s ability to block advanced spoofing attempts. The testing was conducted by independent, NIST-accredited laboratory iBeta in accordance with the ISO 30107-3 standard, confirming the robustness of 1Kosmos’s biometric liveness detection technology.

The Level 2 PAD evaluation involved 600 spoofing attempts using sophisticated presentation attack instruments, including silicone masks, contoured masks, 2.5D felt-printed masks, 3D-printed masks, and 3D animation software. The system achieved a 0% Imposter Attack Presentation Accept Rate (IAPAR), successfully detecting and blocking every single attempt across Android and iOS devices. Testing was conducted over a one-month period from February 5 to March 5, 2025, using Google Pixel 8 (Android 14) and Apple iPhone 16 (iOS 18.0) devices, with six different subjects each enrolled and authenticated five times under controlled 24-hour attack windows.

This milestone builds upon 1Kosmos’s previous certification success with iBeta for its BlockID platform and underscores its commitment to setting the standard for biometric security. iBeta, as a recognized leader in biometric evaluation, further strengthens the credibility of the result, particularly as deepfakes and AI-driven spoofing become more prevalent threats.

The certification arrives at a critical juncture for the identity verification industry. Organizations are facing increasing pressure to defend against emerging cyber threats, including sophisticated spoofing and deepfake attacks. 1Kosmos’s biometric technology—delivered via cloud services, mobile SDKs, and managed Credential Service Provider solutions—demonstrates a comprehensive defense strategy that meets modern security needs.

The company’s broader security posture includes multiple certifications relevant to high-assurance environments: NIST 800-63-3, FIDO2, ISO 27001, SOC2, DEA EPCS, and UK DIATF accreditation via Kantara. These standards support adoption across regulated industries such as government, finance, and healthcare.

As part of its ongoing innovation, 1Kosmos has launched 1Key, a FIDO-compliant biometric authentication device designed for secure shared account access. Supporting one-to-many use cases, it enhances compliance and auditability in enterprise and high-risk environments. The solution also reflects 1Kosmos’s private, permissioned blockchain architecture, which ensures tamper-evident data and GDPR-compliant identity verification processes.

1Kosmos recently reported triple-digit revenue growth in 2024 and strengthened its government market footprint by securing a Blanket Purchase Agreement with Login.gov. It also expanded its enterprise ecosystem through its integration with Microsoft Entra ID, enabling organizations to layer strong biometric identity verification into existing access management platforms.

Industry analysts have also taken note. 1Kosmos was named an Overall Leader in KuppingerCole’s Leadership Compass for Passwordless Authentication for Consumers, and was featured in multiple 2024 Gartner Hype Cycle reports, signaling strong recognition of its market leadership and product maturity.
