ARIADNEXT has updated its mobile SDK to add NFC capabilities. The feature will allow apps built with the SDK to communicate with the electronic chips that are becoming increasingly common in next-generation identity documents all over the world.
In plain terms, that means that ARIADNEXT apps will be able to extract the information stored on those chips during the identity verification process. End users will simply need to scan their document with their mobile phone, and the app will read the chip and confirm that the identity document is authentic.
ARIADNEXT is best known for its remote onboarding technology, which uses face and document recognition to match someone’s face to the image on a photo ID. The new NFC utility will speed up the document recognition component moving forward, with ARIADNEXT reporting that 3.6 billion people will have chip-based identity documents in the next few years. It will also reduce the error rate, prevent tampering, and enable fully automated onboarding procedures.
“With this new functionality, our goal is to provide a smoother customer experience while enabling reliable verification,” said ARIADNEXT Co-Founder and CEO Marc Norlain. “In terms of fraud prevention, the data recovered from the NFC chip is taken from the source of the customer’s identity without being manipulated over the phone. They are therefore secure, compliant and tamper-proof because they are only analysed on our servers.”
ARIADNEXT’s IDCheck.io onboarding solution received FIDO certification in November. The company would later update its platform to comply with France’s ANSSI reference framework. IDCheck.io guards against spoofing with the help of BioID’s liveness detection technology.
