Sybrin’s commercial prospects have improved now that its Passive Liveness Detection SDK has passed its independent audit. The audit was conducted by FIME, and indicates that the SDK is compliant with the ISO/IEC 30107-1 and ISO/IEC 30107-3 standards, and with the latest FIDO Biometric Certification requirements.
According to Sybrin, the results indicate that the SDK is robust enough and reliable enough for commercial deployments in a number of different industries. The company is hoping that the news will increase the appeal of its solution with facial recognition developers.
FIME, meanwhile, runs a FIDO-accredited testing program that evaluates the performance of different biometric systems to make sure they meet international performance expectations. In Sybrin’s case, the company challenged the SDK with 600 presentation attacks, using 120 different presentation attack instruments that were generated with 12 subjects and ten total recipes. The SDK was tested with a smartphone app, while each instrument was used to attempt five separate attacks. Sybrin’s SDK was able to successfully identify the spoofs, and avoided race and gender bias for those of Asian, African, and European descent.
“With the increased need for remote biometric verification prevalent in the market, we felt that FIME’s commitment to ensuring the compliance and conformance of biometric solutions to the required standards was in line with our desire to provide a leading product fit for commercial use in any industry,” said Sybrin Innovation and Product Management head Salvatore Errera.
Keyless’ biometric software also recently achieved FIDO certification through the FIME testing program. FIME itself extended biometric testing services to its Taiwan facility in March, and opened an EMV testing laboratory in India in December. iBeta, meanwhile, operates its own testing facilities, and has published a full list of the liveness detection solutions that have attained ISO/IEC 30107 certification.
