U.K.-based telecom company Vorboss Limited has announced that it is providing one of Central London’s most technologically advanced skyscrapers with the infrastructure required to support 100Gbps connectivity, advanced energy usage analytics, and facial recognition.
The building in question — the brand new 22 Bishopsgate — will be capable of providing ‘plug-and-play’ functionality to all of its tenants courtesy of Vorboss’ fibre optic network, and will also feature support for Microsoft’s Azure Digital Twins Internet of Things platform.
“22 Bishopsgate is setting new standards for workspaces in London and reliable internet connectivity is essential to not only its tenants, but its core operations,” said Timothy Creswick, Vorboss CEO. “When AXA IM – Real Assets explained their requirements for a smart building, we immediately understood how critical our service would be and knew we could help fulfill their vision, delivering the most bandwidth to a single customer location.”
In the age of COVID-19, vast numbers of people have transitioned to working remotely from their homes to accommodate physical distancing measures put into place to slow the spread of the virus. Now, several months after the start of these measures as people begin to return to work in various parts of the world, businesses are relying heavily on biometric technologies like facial recognition to ensure the safety of those entering their buildings.
With that in mind, built-in facial recognition capabilities could be a key selling point for a new building such as 22 Bishopsgate, as enterprises moving into the new high-tech space will do so knowing they can integrate one of the many available face-based biometric access control solutions available today with minimal hassle.
“This is essential infrastructure and waiting weeks for installation is no longer acceptable,” added Creswick. “Our service allows tenants to move in and get connected within a matter of days. We want our clients focused on growing their businesses, not worrying about connectivity.”
Harry Badham, Real Assets Head of UK Development for AXA IM, the developer that built 22 Bishopsgate and worked closely together with Vorboss, added, “Our partnership with Vorboss gives us the confidence that our residents will get the reliable connectivity they need and that we have the technology foundation required to support our residents, now and in the future.”
