IDLive Face Clears iBeta Level 2 Liveness Detection Requirements

ID R&D has become the latest company to achieve iBeta Level 2 Presentation Attack Detection compliance. The company’s IDLive Face passive liveness detection solution has now met all of the requirements needed to fulfill the ISO/IEC 30107-3 standard.

IDLive Face first attained iBeta Level 1 compliance back in January. Unlike other liveness detection providers, ID R&D was able to gain iBeta Level 2 clearance using passive single-frame technology, becoming the only provider to accomplish the feat thus far. IDLive Face received a perfect score on both the Level 1 and Level 2 tests, which means that no spoofing attacks were able to get past the system.

IDLive Face debuted in 2019, and has since been deployed in more than 25 different biometric solutions. The technology is particularly well-suited to mobile onboarding, since the single-image solution is faster and less-data intensive than video or multi-image liveness alternatives. The IDLive Face liveness check can be conducted with a selfie image as small as 50KB.

“Other companies take different approaches, not because they want to make the user experience harder, but because detecting liveness without extra movements and images or video is a huge challenge,” explained ID R&D Chief Science Officer Konstantin Simonchik. “Not only is this a tremendous achievement for the team, but a demonstration of significant technological progress — further proving that Artificial Intelligence can surpass human vision and that Human Intelligence can surpass any AI issue.”

IDLive Face is compatible with iOS and Android devices in addition to most web cameras. The iBeta test was carried out with a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus and an iPhone 6S Plus, and consisted of 1,500 presentation attacks.

Acuant and Aware have both achieved iBeta Level 2 certification within the past month, though neither did so with a single-frame solution. Meanwhile, ID R&D improved its technology’s performance with the release of IDLive Face v. 1.14 in August.
