One of BIO-key’s oldest customers is upping its use of the company’s biometric authentication technology. ICU Medical first started using BIO-key tech to streamline its Quality Control (QC) process back in 2005, and will now be using it to verify the identities of new employees when they try to access a new training program.
ICU Medical is best known as a manufacturer of medical devices. The company originally contracted BIO-key to make sure that it would be able to meet the FDA’s strict QC requirements. BIO-key’s technology allows ICU Medical to authenticate the team member conducting the final QC check, and ensures that that person has the authority to sign off on the finished product.
The new agreement specifically concerns the iLearning training program that ICU Medical is now using for reporting and accounting functions. The company is using BIO-key to onboard new employees and to control who has access to the platform. BIO-key is also being used to enable faster logins and deliver a better overall experience.
“By adding BIO-key to their digital learning initiatives, [ICU Medical] simplified the process of maintaining its training requirements, while providing its employees with the tools to make their jobs easier,” said BIO-key Strategy SVP and Chief Legal Officer Jim Sullivan.
The iLearning platform is developed by Seertech. BIO-key, meanwhile, has spent much of the summer focusing on its new PortalGuard portfolio, which was acquired at the start of July. The company has already found numerous customers in academia and other industries, and credited PortalGuard for its strong performance in the second quarter.
