iBeta is First Lab Accredited for FIDO’s Biometrics Component Certification Program

Colorado-based iBeta Quality Assurance has become the first lab accredited for the FIDO Alliance‘s Biometrics Component Certification Program.

Announced just last week, the FIDO Alliance’s new certification program is aimed ensuring the quality of biometric subcomponents in authentication security, with an eye to the ISO/IEC 19795 and ISO/IEC 30107 standards in particular. iBeta’s selection as the first accredited lab to carry out these evaluations comes as little surprise: In announcing the Biometric Component Certification Program, FIDO emphasized that it would include evaluations of Presentation Attack Detection – countermeasures against spoofing attempts, in other words; iBeta, meanwhile, had announced its own Presentation Attack Detection evaluation program earlier this year.

In a statement announcing iBeta’s accreditation for the program, iBeta Biometric Program Manager Gail Audette emphasized the rigor entailed in attaining the company’s status. “By meeting the rigorous FIDO Alliance training and testing process to become the first accredited biometrics test lab, iBeta has augmented our already mature biometrics testing program to include the FIDO standards certification efforts,” she said, adding, “We at iBeta are excited to begin testing and certification efforts to this new industry standard.”

In attaining the FIDO Alliance accreditation, iBeta now enjoys an elevated profile in the industry. It also happens to be well-timed for FaceTec, whose facial recognition solution attained a 100 percent anti-spoofing score in Level 1 of the iBeta Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) Certification test just a couple of weeks ago.
