Frost & Sullivan is praising SITA for its efforts to bring new technologies to airports in the Asia-Pacific region. To that end, the firm has presented SITA with its Asia-Pacific Airport Automation Growth Innovation & Leadership Excellence Frost Radar Award for 2020.
The selection process was carried out with Frost & Sullivan’s Frost Radar analytic tool, which was used to evaluate the offerings of various players in the APAC airport ecosystem. It concluded that SITA is currently doing the most to drive growth and innovation with solutions that improve the travel experience for APAC customers.
In that regard, Frost & Sullivan called particular attention to the SITA Lab, which acts as the research arm of the company. The Lab is responsible for the facial recognition technology in SITA’s popular Smart Path passenger processing solution, and is also exploring the concept of digital twinning to provide airports with more robust (and actionable) traveler information.
SITA has provided screening technology for multiple airports in the APAC region. It recently announced its most comprehensive project to date with the installation of more than 600 biometric checkpoints at the Beijing Capital International Airport in China.
“SITA provides comprehensive and future-proof solutions that address almost every core business of air travel, including operational, baggage, and passenger processing to make air travel smarter, safer, and seamless throughout the passenger journey,” said Frost & Sullivan Aerospace, Defense, and Security Consulting Analyst Georgia Edell.
“Automation is more important than ever in this COVID-19 environment to better enable social distancing and passenger flow without compromising processing times,” added SITA APAC President Sumesh Patel. “The Smart Path implementation in Beijing signposts growing interest from the market to automate and optimize airport operations through smart technology and prepare the region for sustainable future growth. We’re pleased that Frost & Sullivan have recognized our efforts in these areas and our impact in the APAC region.”
SITA is currently working with NEC to streamline passenger journeys at airports all over the world. The company has also installed biometric kiosks at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
