“Its announcement arrives as Japanese credit card company JCB moves ahead with a pilot of a new IDEMIA biometric payment card that features Fingerprint Cards’ T-Shape solution…”
Fingerprint Cards has a new manufacturing partner for its T-Shape fingerprint sensor module for biometric smart cards: France-based Smart Technology Services.
In a statement, FPC announced that its new partner has developed “specific implanting equipment” for the T-Shape module, targeted at “card manufacturers who intend to use ACF for their implanting process.” FPC added that the implanting system offers “a quick start for pilots and medium sized volume.”
Based just outside of Orléans, Smart Technology Services was founded in August of 2013. The firm focuses on the production of small card batches for clients, and uses modular desktop equipment to reduce costs.
The partnership offers another step forward for a sensor module billed as “a big step toward commercial high volume production of biometric smart cards” at its launch last September. Its announcement arrives as Japanese credit card company JCB moves ahead with a pilot of a new IDEMIA biometric payment card that features Fingerprint Cards’ T-Shape solution, which also features Precise Biometrics software.
