Fime Gains MOSIP Accreditation for Biometric Device Testing

Fime says its laboratory has been accredited to conduct biometric device testing for MOSIP, the Modular Open Source Identity Platform used by governments to build national digital identity systems. The accreditation gives governments and biometric device vendors an independent testing path for MOSIP-aligned deployments.

MOSIP provides open-source software for national-scale identity programs, with more than 100 million citizens across countries including the Philippines, Ethiopia, and Morocco already issued MOSIP-based digital IDs. The platform’s biometric components, including enrollment and authentication devices, require validated performance to ensure data quality and interoperability across large populations.

Fime’s accreditation covers biometric device evaluations aligned with ISO/IEC 30107 for presentation attack detection and ISO/IEC 19795 for biometric performance testing. The company holds NIST NVLAP accredited laboratory status (Lab Code: 600365-0) and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

“National digital identity programs are sovereign infrastructure, as vital as roads, hospitals, or schools,” said Sanjith Sundaram, Vice President of Partner Ecosystem at MOSIP. “By accrediting Fime, MOSIP strengthens the ecosystem with independent testing capabilities that ensure biometric devices meet the highest standards of performance, security, and inclusivity.”

The testing services cover performance evaluation, presentation attack detection, biometric data injection attack detection, and bias evaluation across demographic groups. Fime says the accreditation supports trusted procurement decisions by helping governments evaluate device reliability before large-scale deployment.

Fime, which expanded its test tools for EU digital ID wallet and mobile license standards earlier this year, brings over a decade of biometric evaluation experience to the MOSIP ecosystem. The company’s testing and consulting division works across payments, smart mobility, and digital identity.

Several biometric technology providers have recently achieved MOSIP certifications, including ROC and Neurotechnology, reflecting growing adoption of the platform for national digital ID programs in emerging markets.
