ROC Achieves MOSIP Certification for Biometric Solutions, Expands Global Reach

U.S.-based biometrics provider Rank One Computing (ROC) has received official certification under the Modular Open-Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) Compliance Programme, authorizing its flagship biometric solutions for use in national digital ID systems. The company’s ROC ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System) and ROC SDK (Software Development Kit) are now listed in the MOSIP Marketplace, making them available to governments implementing MOSIP-based identity infrastructure.clipboard icon

Compliance Opens New Markets

ROC ABIS and ROC SDK support fingerprint, face, and iris recognition, and have been validated to meet MOSIP’s technical and security benchmarks for interoperability. The certification follows extensive testing and enables ROC’s systems to integrate seamlessly with sovereign identity systems built on MOSIP’s open-source architecture. These tools also comply with additional international standards including FISWG, ANSI/NIST, and OSAC specifications, enhancing their global applicability.

“With ROC joining MOSIP, we are playing an important role in expanding biometric solutions for developing nations, providing further agility into how foundational ID systems can be implemented,” said Blake Moore, Chief Operating Officer of ROC, in the announcement. “We are passionate about delivering next-gen biometric and digital credential technologies that meet the evolving needs of global governments, particularly in developing nations where MOSIP is making a significant impact.”

Head of Partner Ecosystem at MOSIP, Sanjith Sundaram, welcomed the news. “ROC’s achievement of MOSIP compliance reflects progress toward our shared goal of enabling open, inclusive digital-ID systems,” he said.

Global Demand for MOSIP-Compliant Solutions

Originally developed to provide sovereign digital identity infrastructure for low- and middle-income countries, MOSIP now supports 26 countries worldwide, with 11 actively progressing toward nationwide digital ID rollouts. Governments can use the MOSIP Marketplace to review and procure tested biometric technologies that meet the platform’s integration standards.

The certification positions ROC to support countries like Sri Lanka, which recently announced a MOSIP-based digital ID system with a pilot launch expected by mid-2026. Other MOSIP adopters include Morocco and the Philippines, underscoring a broader shift across the Global South toward open-source identity solutions.

The development comes amid ROC’s continued expansion in the biometrics sector. In December of last year, the company appointed former U.S. Department of Defense biometric systems architect Sam Cava as Strategic Advisor, highlighting its strategic focus on public-sector deployments. Earlier this year, ROC’s facial recognition algorithms also ranked among the top performers in the latest NIST Face Recognition Technology Evaluation (FRTE), strengthening its global credibility.
