“Aptitude,” one of the European Commission’s new Large-Scale Pilots for the EUDI Wallet, has launched with a two-year program focused on digital travel credentials and payments. The consortium counts more than 110 organizations from over 15 countries, and features travel and identity players including Signicat, SITA, and Indicio.
For Signicat, the pilot builds on its July acquisition of Inverid, the maker of the NFC passport-reading platform ReadID, a deal that strengthened its mobile identity position across Europe. This builds on Signicat acquires Inverid. The company has also been pushing a reusable-identity approach that aligns with wallet-based flows; Signicat’s ReuseID.
Travel is a logical early testbed. Airlines and travel tech providers have already trialed wallet‑style journeys, including a Lufthansa–Amadeus pilot and Finland’s DVV working with Amadeus on travel use cases. SITA’s passenger IT research points to strong interest in digital IDs for smoother processing, underscoring near‑term demand for acceptance infrastructure.
Aptitude sits alongside other Commission‑funded LSPs that collectively push the ecosystem forward, including the WE BUILD consortium and the Commission’s expanded wallet funding.
