Signicat Launches ReuseID to Streamline Digital Identity Reuse Across Borders

Signicat has introduced ReuseID, a reusable digital identity solution designed to reduce repeated verification steps across platforms and countries. The product aims to simplify onboarding, lower compliance costs, and support organisations adapting to Europe’s evolving digital identity frameworks.

Product Positioning

ReuseID enables verified digital identities to be created once and then reused across multiple services, reducing friction for end users and eliminating the need for repeated verification. The solution is positioned in the context of the European Union’s updated eIDAS 2.0 regulation and the forthcoming European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet).

Signicat highlights ReuseID’s role in helping businesses manage KYC, KYB, AML, and fraud prevention requirements while maintaining control over customer identity experiences. The product integrates with the wider Signicat platform, supporting connections with national eIDs, digital wallets, and risk and fraud systems.

Technical and Regulatory Details

The first iteration of ReuseID supports eIDAS Level of Assurance 2, corresponding to “Substantial” trust. This involves identity proofing methods such as VideoID Substantial or ReadID, which verify a government-issued identity document through OCR or NFC scanning and link it with biometric checks. LoA 2 is suitable for many regulated sectors, though not for the most sensitive cases where LoA High would be required.

ReuseID builds on Signicat’s MobileID product, which acts as both the identity store and authentication mechanism. Verified identities are held under a MobileID user profile, and organisations can implement authentication with PIN codes or biometrics via their own applications. The platform also supports “step-up” flows, allowing additional verification or attributes to be added later if higher assurance is needed.

From a compliance perspective, ReuseID is framed as meeting GDPR, PSD2, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), and eIDAS requirements. It is designed with interoperability in mind, allowing integration with emerging EUDI Wallets and national eIDs. Signicat notes that its technology has already been used in wallet pilots, and ReuseID is described as operating across platforms and countries to reduce fragmentation for businesses and users.

Market Drivers

The launch comes as European member states prepare to roll out EUDI Wallets under EU regulations requiring common technical specifications. Businesses across the region are under pressure to adopt identity solutions that are interoperable, compliant, and efficient. Signicat has also pointed to its own research showing that while many companies believe they are tackling fraud effectively, incidents remain widespread.
