“I’m looking forward to continuing our incredible growth, delivering our best-in-class products and services to enable our customer’s missions, and expanding the NSS reputation as a trusted partner across the broader federal landscape.” – Patrick Clancey, CEO, IDEMIA NSS
IDEMIA National Security Solutions is greeting a familiar face as its new CEO. That’s because Patrick Clancey helped to found the organization back in 2017, when he was serving as the Vice President of Operations for IDEMIA.
It was a time of tremendous transformation for IDEMIA, which officially formed as a result of the merger between Oberthur Technologies and Safran Identity & Security that same year. For his part, Clancey served as the Senior Director of Federal & National Security Programs for MorphoTrust USA – then a division of Safran – from January of 2013 to May of 2017, before stepping into his new role with IDEMIA ISS.
In 2019, Clancey moved on to serve as the VP of Digital Identity Operations for IDEMIA’s Civil Identity division, and he took on the position of Chief of Staff and VP of Strategy and Programs for IDEMIA’s Global Digital Platforms unit the following year.
“We look at this as a homecoming for Patrick, as he was one of the individuals who helped create NSS,” said NSS Board Chairman David Landstaff. “He is a leading biometrics and digital identity subject matter expert and will help position NSS for its exponential growth in the years to come. He brings a track record of accomplishment and a reputation for leadership and integrity that will enable NSS to continue to serve its customers at the highest levels.”
Clancey started his career in the US Army, serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq between 2003 and 2009. From there, he transitioned into the business world through a role as a Lead Associate for Booz Allen Hamilton, a position he held until he joined MorphoTrust USA. Clancey also served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for The Center for Identity from 2017 to early 2021, and he became the Vice President of the Kantara Initiative’s Board of Directors in November of last year, a position he retains today.
Commenting on his return to IDEMIA NSS, Clancey called it “an extraordinary opportunity.”
“I’m looking forward to continuing our incredible growth, delivering our best-in-class products and services to enable our customer’s missions, and expanding the NSS reputation as a trusted partner across the broader federal landscape,” he said.
Clancey’s appointment as CEO comes shortly after IDEMIA NSS’s announcement of a trio of new VP appointments in December of 2021, including the promotions of Marg Schulenberg to the position of Vice President of Security and Business Operations and of Mike Ronayne to the post of Vice President of Federal Civilian Operations, as well as the hiring of Sandra Joyner Williams as Vice President of Department of Defense and Intelligence Community Operations.
