Identity verification specialist AU10TIX has promoted one of its own to the role of chief executive.
Carey O’Connor Kolaja joined the company only last year, having been appointed its President and Chief Operating Officer in May of 2019. Now, the company’s board of directors has officially named her the Chief Executive Officer of AU10TIX.
“I am honored to be named CEO of AU10TIX, where innovation thrives, our technology is remarkable, our employees are passionate and the future is bright,” she said, adding later, “I look forward to leading the next stage of growth and am grateful for the leadership that has brought us to our prestigious position in the identity space.”
Kolaja first made a name for herself in the business world at PayPal. Joining that company in late 2003, she rose through the executive ranks, ultimately serving as the company’s VP of Global Consumer Products before she departed for Citi FinTech in 2015. At the latter company, Kolaja served as Global Chief Product Officer until 2019, when she made the leap to AU10TIX.
Ron Atzmon, the previous CEO of AU10TIX, will now shift into a role as deputy chairman of the board, from which position he will continue to lead strategic client relationships, M&A activities, and overall strategic planning.
Commenting on Kolaja’s promotion, Atzmon called her “an invaluable asset to the organization,” adding, “I am confident she will help AU10TIX reach new heights of performance across all aspects of the company’s operation and help transform the identity space as we know it today.”
AU10TIX’s platform supports selfie-based biometric authentication based on document and facial recognition – an approach to remote identity verification that has proven highly popular amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The company notably joined the FIDO Alliance back in April.
