CLEAR1 Enterprise Identity Platform Achieves FedRAMP In Process Status at Moderate Level

CLEAR has reached the FedRAMP “In Process” designation for its CLEAR1 enterprise identity platform at the Moderate impact level, listing the platform on the FedRAMP Marketplace and advancing it toward full federal authorization for use across U.S. government agencies.

The FedRAMP “In Process” status indicates that CLEAR1 has secured a federal agency sponsor, implemented the required security controls, undergone independent assessment by a Third Party Assessment Organization, and is under active federal review progressing toward a full Authority to Operate. FedRAMP Moderate is the most common authorization tier in the program, covering approximately 80 percent of all authorized cloud service providers and appropriate for systems handling sensitive data including personally identifiable information.

CLEAR1 is the company’s enterprise-facing biometric identity platform, separate from CLEAR’s consumer airport membership service, and enables organizations to verify identity using facial biometrics and liveness detection at the point of service. The platform already holds Kantara Initiative NIST IAL2/AAL2 certification and is HIPAA-compliant. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is the agency sponsor for the FedRAMP authorization process, reflecting an existing contract: CLEAR1’s biometric login on Medicare.gov launched in March 2026.

“FedRAMP is a natural extension of that work and a critical validation of the investments we’ve made in controls, monitoring, and governance across CLEAR1,” said Jon Schlegel, Chief Security Officer at CLEAR.

The FedRAMP listing formalizes the compliance pathway for CLEAR1’s federal contract and enterprise expansion reported in February 2026, which included record enterprise bookings alongside the Medicare.gov agreement. CLEAR’s consumer platform serves more than 39 million members, with eGates deployed at more than 37 airports. The company also has an established federal security relationship through CLEAR’s TSA biometric eGates partnership at major airports.

CLEAR1 joins a growing field of biometric identity vendors pursuing federal authorization. Incode Technologies achieved FedRAMP Ready status in November 2025, and 1Kosmos earned FedRAMP High authorization in June 2025. The Moderate level is the standard benchmark for federal identity verification platforms handling civilian government data.
