“CLEAR is focused on revolutionizing the way we live, work and travel, and we look forward to helping our airport partners and local officials build a bridge to New Orleans’ next 300 years.” – Gina Bruzzichesi, Senior Vice President of Operations, CLEAR
The CLEAR biometric expedited screening program has arrived at another major airport, with its namesake organization announcing that it is now in operation at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY).
Commenting on the deployment in CLEAR’s announcement, the organization’s SVP of Operations, Gina Bruzzichesi, noted that it could lead to the creation of 40 new jobs in the city, helping to support the local economy. But she emphasized the broader technological impact of the system, which allows registrants to quickly pass through airport security screening with a fingerprint or iris scan. “CLEAR is focused on revolutionizing the way we live, work and travel, and we look forward to helping our airport partners and local officials build a bridge to New Orleans’ next 300 years,” she said.
The deployment’s announcement comes just a few weeks after the news that CLEAR had expanded at the JFK airport in New York, where it was just introduced to Terminal 4, an important gateway for international travelers.
It’s part of a larger trend in airport screening and passenger processing, with TSA PreCheck offering another expedited screening option to travelers, and the US Customs and Border Protection agency working with airport and airline partners on a number of projects across the country, primarily based on biometric border control but also involving biometric boarding initiatives.
