CLEAR‘s eponymous biometric passenger processing solution has arrived at yet another airport, thanks to a collaboration with United Airlines. Expedited screening lanes are now open at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
The lanes are in operation in terminals B and C of the airport, with plans to extend CLEAR to terminal C in the near future. CLEAR members are able to enjoy expedited security screening through these lanes, identifying themselves quickly through a simple fingerprint or eye scan.
The partnership with United Airlines is offering some additional benefits. For members of the MileagePlus Premier 1K rewards program, CLEAR membership is complimentary, and special rates for CLEAR membership are being offered to other members of the MileagePlus program as well as U.S. United credit card holders.
“CLEAR’s partnership with United is focused on making travel easier and more predictable for MileagePlus members by delivering experiences that surprise and delight them throughout their journey,” explained CLEAR VP of Corporate Affairs Howard Kass.
Weighing in from an operations perspective, Houston Airport System Chief Commercial Officer Ian Wadsworth emphasized the convenience and efficiency benefits that CLEAR’s solution, framing it as a sign of the biometric future of air travel. “We are thrilled that CLEAR is expanding service to additional terminals at George W. Bush Intercontinental Airport,” he said. “CLEAR will provide faster identification screening for travelers, but beyond that, this service highlights what the exciting future of travel is all about- using the latest biometric technology to provide a more seamless customer experience.”
News of the expansion of CLEAR’s airport network arrives at a time when CLEAR is also exploring new frontiers for its biometric screening program, including deployments at sports stadiums and forays into biometric “naked” payments that don’t require physical payment cards.
