The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has officially granted five new patents to Acceptto. The patents are all related to the company’s Continuous Behavioral Authentication platform, and will be deployed to bolster the company’s identity and access management capabilities.
“Cybercriminals are not slowing down which means we cannot either,” said Acceptto CEO Shahrokh Shahidzadeh. “We are continuing to provide resilient authentication with clients who are employing our patented technologies, delivering next-generation security innovation.”
Like other behavioral biometrics solutions, Acceptto’s platform authenticates users based on a number of different behavioral factors, and watches for anomalous activity that could point to the presence of a fraudster. Continuous Behavioral Authentication can be used to secure virtually any channel, including mobile, web, and call center applications.
The five patents, meanwhile, specifically focus on three key elements of the platform. The first is the platform’s policy orchestration, which refers to a risk-based authentication system that analyzes context and behavioral modeling. The second is dynamic assurance, which concerns the issuance of device-based tokens that can be combined with other forms of multi-factor authentication to authorize sensitive interactions that require a high level of security.
The third is consumer access control. In plain terms, that means that the patents will improve the platform’s ability to register and verify the identity information of new and existing users, giving corporate customers a more secure and convenient way to confirm the identities of people trying to gain access to their systems.
The new patents should only strengthen the appeal of Acceptto’s Continuous Behavioral Authentication platform. Acceptto’s technology already received FIDO2 certification in September, and the company followed that up with Citrix certification in November. Acceptto has since partnered with Apereo to upgrade its single sign-on utility through the integration of Apereo’s Central Authentication Service.
