Portland-based behavioral analytics specialist Acceptto has attained FIDO Alliance certification with respect to the FIDO2 server protocol. This means Acceptto’s Biobehavioral authentication platform supports both FIDO UAF 1.0 and FIDO 2.0 servers, helping to enable strong online authentication in conjunction with a given device’s biometric sensors or a PIN.
Officially unveiled last November, Acceptto’s authentication platform is designed to continuously monitor end user behavior for the purpose of authentication and regulating access to digital resources. The company launched its platform after closing a series-A funding round led by the VC arm of the Aetna health insurance firm, but it’s looking to offer its authentication solution to potential clients across a range of sectors beyond healthcare.
As Acceptto CEO Shahrokh Shahidzadeh explained in a statement announcing the FIDO2 certification, the aim is to generally set a new authentication standard that can replace archaic password-based systems. “With FIDO2 we can start the path to a safer, more phishing-resistant protocol and better user experience for web and mobile application authentication,” he said. “We are proud to be leading the transformative shift in cybersecurity by offering an end-to-end continuous behavioral authentication platform versus outdated binary authentication technologies that are simply ineffective.”
While the certification is clearly good news for Acceptto, it’s also a boon for the FIDO Alliance, whose FIDO2 authentication standards are proving increasingly popular as a growing number of products and services attain certification. FIDO2 was launched in the spring of this year, and now has the support of the world’s biggest web browsers, helping to elevate security across the internet.
