BIO-key has outfitted another academic institution with its flagship PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service offering. The company’s latest client is Oklahoma Wesleyan University (OKWU) in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, which will be using PortalGuard to streamline its access control procedures for students and for university staff.
In that regard, PortalGuard will allow people to gain access to all of the school’s enterprise applications with only one login thanks to its Single Sign-on capabilities. PortalGuard also enables self-service password resets, which will minimize the number of calls to the IT department from students and faculty who need to reset their passwords. OKWU cited lower IT costs and the seamless user interface as primary factors in its security decision.
PortalGuard delivers those utility benefits while still providing a high level of security. The platform offers support for more than 16 different forms of authentication, including several biometric authentication factors. It can be deployed in the cloud, and will provide comprehensive security coverage for OKWU’s entire digital infrastructure.
“PortalGuard is simple to install and integrate into our customers’ environment while providing a sophisticated, secure solution with an easy-to-use interface allowing staff and students to adopt it without any difficulty,” said PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “PortalGuard asserts the appropriate levels of IAM security controls to secure data while also providing accelerated time to value and integrity to the modern enterprise.”
BIO-key has now provided PortalGuard services for more than 200 academic institutions all over the United States. It has also been working to expand that clientele in the past few months, and even showcased PortalGuard at the EDUCAUSE Conference in late October. The Conference allows educational stakeholders to discuss issues that affect the industry, and placed a strong focus on cybersecurity in 2021. The University of Denver and Rio Hondo College are some of the most recent academic additions to BIO-key’s PortalGuard client roster.
