BIO-key is introducing a slew of new features for its PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) platform. The upgrades will improve the utility of the platform for customers with a large number of remote users, and help mitigate the threat of social engineering attacks.
To that end, the new PortalGuard will come with an updated version of BIO-key’s adaptive authentication feature. PortalGuard Contextual Authentication v2.0 automatically analyzes factors like location, IP address, and browser history to gauge the risk level of each authentication request, and will do so with more nuance than its predecessor.
BIO-key will also be adding support for the FIDO2 passwordless authentication specification, and for the Microsoft Azure Active Directory. The former will expand on PortalGuard’s existing support for FIDO2 tokens, and leverage BIO-key’s biometric authentication tech to provide users with more passwordless options. The latter will improve the performance of cloud and hybrid-cloud setups to rival that of on-premise AD deployments.
Other features include a new SSO Jump Page that lists all of the applications that users will be able to access through PortalGuard’s Single Sign-On utility, and an enhanced Administrator Dashboard that provides more detailed reports on user activity. Finally, the new WEB-Key 4.0.931 will speed up installation and device lookup for people using fingerprint scanners.
“Customers choose PortalGuard to secure their access points so they can focus on other pressing issues, which is why we’re constantly looking for ways to add value for enterprises that are facing a myriad of cybersecurity threats,” said BIO-key Chairman and CEO Michael DePasquale. “The launch of our new PortalGuard and WEB-Key capabilities provides improved authentication and support for working from any location, which are critical issues for institutions in targeted segments such as education, government, financial, and healthcare.”
BIO-key formally launched the PortalGuard IDaaS solution in November. The solution has proven to be particularly popular with academic institutions, and with public agencies like the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense. Southeastern Illinois College and Marion College are some of its most recent customers in the academic sector.
