BIO-key has won another high-profile client thanks to its PortalGuard solution. The company has announced that a division of the US Department of Justice has opted to use PortalGuard for internal identity and access management purposes.
The biometrics specialists added the PortalGuard Single Sign-On solution to its portfolio last summer through its acquisition of PistolStar, and has since gone on to announce a number of new clients opting to use PortalGuard. Many have been in the higher education market segment, but PortalGuard has also been used in a number of other areas including financial services, healthcare, and the public sector.
In announcing this latest deployment, BIO-key did not name the specific client agency, but its PortalGuard President, Mark Cochran, suggested that PortalGuard will support a “vital national security program” through the deployment.
“The BIO-key team has extensive experience supporting many of our national security and law enforcement agency customers which secure the nation from the many threats they face, both foreign and domestic,” he said. “PortalGuard enables these government agencies to meet the challenges of an evolving threat landscape while securing their operations in a cost-effective manner.”
News of the contract comes soon after BIO-key’s official launch of PortalGuard as an Identity-as-a-Service solution in late November. It also arrives in the wake of a presentation by BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale at the LD Micro Virtual Main Event 2020 Investor Conference last month.
