“…FacePhi said its technology will allow Nubi users to authorize payments through the app and even to access a prepaid international Visa card, all through their mobile devices.”
An Argentina-based FinTech startup has embraced biometric technology from FacePhi for user authentication.
Headquartered in Buenos Aires, Nubi offers an eponymous payments app designed to let individuals perform transactions without a physical credit card. It therefore has a particularly strong need for effective online authentication, which FacePhi is now working to deliver in the form of its selfie-based solution, which is designed to match photos of an official identity document against an uploaded selfie image.
In announcing the partnership, FacePhi said its technology will allow Nubi users to authorize payments through the app and even to access a prepaid international Visa card, all through their mobile devices. FacePhi said the mobile app enabling these activities “will be available soon”.
“We want to guarantee the maximum security for our users, with a first-tier technology solution, chosen by the most important financial institutions worldwide,” explained Nubi CTO and COO Mariano Chiavetti, adding later that FacePhi employs “an expert team” to constantly improve the end user experience.
The partnership is the latest to be facilitated by Compusistem, FacePhi’s domestic IT partner in Argentina. The company has also recently helped FacePhi to establish contracts with Santander Argentina and Banco del Sol.
FacePhi CEO Javier Mira acknowledged that Argentina is one of his firm’s “main growth cornerstones within the Latin American market,” adding his team aims to continue increasing FacePhi’s activity in this region even as it expands into new areas including Asia Pacific.
