Selfie authentication specialist FacePhi continues to solidify its presence in the Latin America market with new deals with Santander Merchant Platform Solutions (SMPS) and Interbank.
The SMPS agreement marks the latest FacePhi integration in Argentina, which has become the epicenter of FacePhi’s LATAM success, thanks in part to its partnership with domestic technology partner Compusistem. SMPS, a subsidiary of Santander Group, has opted to use FacePhi’s SelphID onboarding technology, which uses facial recognition and document reading to authenticate end users, on its mobile channels, with the aim of improving both security and the user experience. And the agreement was once again facilitated with the help of Compusistem.
Commenting in a statement, FacePhi CEO Javier Mira emphasized “the growing demand for biometric technology” that has maintained despite the global crisis of COVID-19, adding that Argentina is “a fundamental country in our development strategy within Latin America.”
Meanwhile, FacePhi’s other new agreement comes from Peru. Interbank, formerly known as the International Bank of Peru, has also opted to implement SelphID, in order to enable online account opening for its customers. This is FacePhi’s second agreement in Peru, after Banco de Crédito del Perú embraced the company’s biometric selfie authentication technology last summer.
Commenting on the agreement, Mira asserted that the Peru market is “essential for our consolidation and growth in the short and medium term”.
News of the agreements comes on the heels of FacePhi’s announcement that it had attained Level 1 compliance in iBeta’s Presentation Attack Detection evaluation program, marking an important milestone in the development of its technology.
