ZKTeco is ramping up its commercial activities in Thailand. To that end, the company’s ZKTeco Thailand subsidiary has selected VST ECS as its local distribution partner for the country.
VST ECS acts as an importer and distributor of IT solutions in the consumer and commercial markets. The company is part of the broader VST ECS Group based in Hong Kong, and operates subsidiaries in Myanmar and Cambodia.
The partnership with ZKTeco specifically concerns the latter’s SmartAC and ProFace X series of access control terminals, both of which offer support for face and palm biometrics. The terminals are equipped with new ZKTeco Visible Light Technology that improves the speed and the accuracy of the terminals’ biometric scans.
The 3 in 1 Palm Recognition suite, meanwhile, takes someone’s palm shape, palm print, and palm vein pattern into account when verifying their identity. The entire authentication process can be completed in less than 0.3 seconds when using either face or palm recognition.
The face and palm recognition procedures are fully contactless, and offer liveness detection to guard against photo and video spoofing. The ProFace and SmartAC terminals also supplement the biometric scans with temperature and mask detection to help maintain public health during the pandemic. In that regard, ZKTeco was one of the many companies that updated its access control portfolio to enable mask and thermal screening in the early days of COVID-19.
At the moment, the ProFace X and SmartAC1 models are the only two available in Thailand through the new arrangement. The VST ECS alliance is one of several recent partnerships for ZKTeco, which previously integrated its mask and temperature tech into the NEXT video management software solution from Arteco, and then made its SpeedFace+ solution compatible with OnGuard access control system from LenelS2.
