ZKTeco’s SpeedFace+ solution is now compatible with LenelS2’s OnGuard access control system. The development will allow LenelS2’s current OnGuard customers to integrate the biometric screening solution into their existing security and access setups.

SpeedFace+ uses facial recognition to enable contactless access control, and also offers temperature and mask detection to make sure that visitors are complying with the latest public safety protocols. ZKTeco itself has joined LenelS2’s OpenAccess Alliance Program (OAAP) after receiving factory certification from the company. During that certification process, LenelS2 tested the SpeedFace reader interface (also known as BioPack) to make sure that it would work well with the OnGuard platform.
“BioPack automatically synchronizes OnGuard user data with ZKTeco SpeedFace readers,” said LenelS2’s John Marchioli, who handles OAAP product management. “This allows BioPack to automate SpeedFace user-enrollment and provide users’ temperature data to the OnGuard system for subsequent notification and reporting.”
ZKTeco indicated that the demand for its SpeedFace+ readers has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of those customers have used the device as a standalone temperature reader, though the company is hoping that the LenelS2 alliance will lead to more robust access control deployments. SpeedFace can verify the identities of registered users, and can scan unregistered users to make sure that they are wearing a mask and are not running a fever.
ZKTeco was one of the first companies to introduce mask and temperature screening capabilities after the onset of COVID-19, adding thermal sensors to its SpeedFace SF1005-V+ and SF1008+ readers all the way back in April. The company would later release a standalone infrared thermometer to facilitate screening at large venues.
LenelS2, meanwhile, is not the first company to adopt ZKTeco’s screening technology. Arteco integrated the company’s mask and temperature detection portfolio into its NEXT video event management software platform in July. As a result, customers can configure the system to receive a notification whenever someone is not observing proper safety protocols.
