World ID, the biometric identity verification platform operated by World (formerly Worldcoin), has added native USDC stablecoin support to its blockchain infrastructure. The update replaces previously used bridged USDC tokens with versions issued directly by Circle, enhancing transaction speed, reducing costs, and eliminating reliance on third-party bridging solutions.
Native USDC and Cross-Chain Protocol Integration
The rollout includes Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol V2 (CCTP V2), which facilitates seamless and secure USDC transfers across blockchain networks. Since the integration, the platform has reported a 27 percent increase in liquidity. The move also deepens the collaboration between World and Circle as both companies expand their footprint in identity-verified finance.
World ID has positioned itself as a major player in digital identity verification, with over 27 million users verified across 160 countries through its biometric system. The platform uses custom “Orb” devices to perform iris scans, ensuring that each user represents a unique human. This biometric approach is designed to protect digital systems against bots and artificial intelligence impersonation.
A Global Expansion
The USDC integration follows another strategic initiative by World to foster development on its platform. The company recently launched a developer program aimed at supporting applications that use proof-of-humanity as a foundational layer for identity and access control in decentralized environments.
While World has not issued a direct statement about the liquidity increase or the specifics of its developer incentives, industry sources confirm that the USDC integration is a key part of the company’s effort to align financial services with human-verified identity. The partnership also advances Circle’s push to expand use of USDC in regulated and compliance-oriented environments, especially as it ramps up activity in the U.S. market following its public listing.
