Veridium has bolstered its reputation as a provider of FIDO-certified security solutions. The company’s VeridiumID solution achieved FIDO2 certification back in 2019, and its iOS and Android Mobile SDKs have now been listed as FIDO Certified Authenticators.
Both VeridiumID and the Mobile SDKs enable passwordless multi-factor authentication. The SDKs, in particular, allow developers to integrate the company’s biometric authentication technology into their own projects, which in turn enables secure access for those trying to log into accounts through mobile apps and web browsers. The solution can also be deployed on a desktop device.
Viridium’s portfolio offers support for several biometric modalities, including face and fingerprint recognition. The technology eliminates the need for passwords in a corporate environment, which protects organizations from phishing, brute force attacks, and other threats that try to exploit weak knowledge-based credentials. In doing so, it provides employees with a better user experience, and reduces administrative costs for IT departments that no longer need to field as many password reset calls.
From a regulatory perspective, the second FIDO certification helps support a standards-based approach to cybersecurity. In that regard, Viridium’s SDKs will allow organizations to comply with PSD2 and other international data protection laws.
“We’re proud to expand our FIDO position,” said Veridium CEO Ismet Geri. “This new certification provides greater levels of assurance to our customers, delivering increased levels of end-to-end security for our intelligent, passwordless authentication solutions and ensures customers adopting FIDO standards are future-proofing their investment with Veridium.”
Viridium recently revealed that it has been working with the NIST to establish clear standards for contactless fingerprint recognition systems. The company also formed a strategic partnership with Jumio back in May. The FIDO Alliance, meanwhile, has announced that it is launching a new certification program for cybersecurity professionals. The organization made the announcement during its first in-person Authenticate conference in October.
