AuthenticID has announced an upgraded version of its Smart ReAuth solution, which enables the authentication of end users through a simple selfie. The solution was first launched in 2021, and has now been enhanced to enable user verification in less than a second.
After an initial, comprehensive identity verification session, Smart ReAuth lets end users conduct a range of sensitive transactions with the security of selfie-driven biometric authentication. It is backed up with sophisticated liveness detection technology, and encrypts end users’ information in an AWS cluster database enabling instant data deletion upon reverification.
Smart ReAuth is part of a broader identity verification platform boasting 99 percent accuracy in the detection of counterfeit IDs, and 98 percent first-time verification rates.
In announcing the upgraded solution, AuthenticID Product Management VP Alex Wong emphasized that it’s meant to counter today’s advancing fraud threats without compromising on UX. “Smart ReAuth was developed to ensure that this solution isn’t just a powerful tool to fight fraud, but also improves the customer experience, giving fraud-weary customers peace of mind while eliminating the need for cumbersome processes like KBA or passwords,” he said.
AuthenticID emphasizes that the solution can be used in applications ranging from enterprise access control to online financial services transactions. Among other things, it offers protection against account takeover attacks—a key cyberthreat flagged by AuthenticID’s Chief Digital Officer, Chris Borkenhagen, in a recent interview on the ID Talk podcast.
