Unisys has released the latest version of its Stealth(identity) biometric identity management platform. Stealth(identity) supports face, voice, fingerprint, and iris recognition, and also uses behavioral biometrics to evaluate risk levels during every interaction.
The new version of Stealth(identity) will improve the platform’s existing features, and will supplement them with a handful of new ones to enhance its overall performance. Most notably, Unisys is pushing a new web and mobile SDK that makes it easier to integrate thermal scanners and QR codes into a custom authentication system. Meanwhile, network access control (NAC) will facilitate the flow of information between Stealth(identity) and an organization’s existing database, allowing organizations to crosscheck the user against an employee directory whenever someone tries to gain access to the network. Doing so ensures that anyone logging in is in fact an employee with legitimate company credentials.
Stealth(identity) will similarly cross-reference new biometric results with the fingerprints and faces that are already on file, either from a previous scan or from an official government document. The platform offers liveness detection to thwart spoofing attempts.
Unisys is hoping that the improved Stealth(identity) will appeal to businesses that need a convenient way to verify people’s identities in a remote work environment. The company noted that fraud losses are still going up after reaching $16.9 billion in 2019.
“Secure identity authentication is one of the most critical business challenges today, especially with many employees operating from home,” said Unisys Security VP Chris Kloes. “Stealth(identity) provides a cost-effective way to defend against fraud and improper access, while an integrated biometrics platform makes the environment more secure while asking less of users.”
Unisys previously updated Stealth(identity) in July with the release of version 2.7, which was intended to help businesses deal with COVID-19 scams. The company also released a Software-as-a-Service version of the platform in November of 2019.
