Smart lock manufacturer ULTRALOQ has received Aliro certification across five of its lock models, qualifying its products to operate as tap-to-unlock devices using digital keys stored in a smartphone’s digital wallet. The certified models are the Latch 3, Latch 5 Pro, Latch 7, Latch 7 Pro, and Bolt Pro. Aliro is a connectivity standard developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, the organization also responsible for the Matter smart home standard, designed to create interoperability among smart locks and digital keys across different manufacturers, platforms, and device ecosystems.
An Aliro-certified lock can be opened by any Aliro-compliant digital key regardless of which vendor’s ecosystem issued the key, enabling a unified credential experience across residential, hospitality, and commercial access control applications. The standard defines the secure communication protocol, key provisioning process, and revocation mechanism, ensuring digital keys can be safely issued and cancelled remotely. Aliro-certified locks communicate with phones via NFC, enabling the tap-to-unlock gesture familiar from contactless payments and hotel room key cards.
The certification aligns ULTRALOQ’s products with the digital wallet key ecosystem developing across Apple, Google, and Samsung wallets, with Samsung Wallet’s Aliro-powered Digital Home Key currently the primary commercial implementation. For the hospitality sector, Aliro creates interoperability between property management systems, digital key issuance platforms, and lock hardware from multiple vendors. For residential users, it enables a single digital key to operate across an entire smart-home access ecosystem.
The Aliro certification follows ULTRALOQ’s recent interoperability push. ULTRALOQ’s Matter-certified Bolt lock launched in October 2025, applying the same open-ecosystem philosophy to the smart home platform layer. The Matter certification covered smart home interoperability; Aliro extends that to digital key interoperability across credential ecosystems.
The Aliro certification also taps growing consumer familiarity with digital wallet credential expansion, as state-issued mobile driver’s licences and transit credentials increasingly share wallet space with door keys.
ULTRALOQ is a brand of Xthings, the consumer access and security company formerly known as U-Tec.
