TypingDNA is looking to generate some excitement for typing biometrics with a hackathon that will hand out more than $10,000 worth of prizes. Submissions will close on October 31, while the winners will be announced on November 15.
For the participants, the challenge is fairly open-ended. The theme for the TypingDNA Hackathon is “no barriers to creativity.” Teams are welcome to submit anything (including apps and websites) that uses TypingDNA’s authentication API. In that regard, the company is hoping that the contest will spur more interest in typing biometrics as a modern authentication option.
Those who submit a project will receive feedback from the TypingDNA team, while the winners will be selected by a panel of expert judges. The first, second, and third place winners will receive $5,000, $3,000 and $1,500, respectively. The company will also hand out awards in categories like “WOW Factor”, “Social Impact”, and “Business Potential”.
Keystroke dynamics verifies someone’s identity based on their typing pattern, using metrics like typing speed and keyboard pressure. TypingDNA’s tech has been deployed in a digital proctoring solution from Tremend, while the company itself recently joined the ForgeRock Trust Network. The Authentication API is also compatible with Microsoft’s Azure AD B2C platform.
