TypingDNA is inviting more users to try out its wellness-focused app based on behavioral biometrics.
The app, dubbed “TypingDNA Focus”, uses patent-pending AI technology to gauge the mood of an end user based on their typing patterns. According to the company, it can assess when the user is feeling particularly stressed, happy, calm, energetic, or focused.
This data is presented through an infographic dashboard offering end users a snapshot of notable mood trends, flagging 2:00 p.m. on Monday as a time of particular focus, for example, or 4:00 p.m. on a Thursday as a high-stress period.
The app represents an extension of TypingDNA’s robust behavioral biometrics technology beyond the realm of cybersecurity, which has been its main focus area. By assessing various metrics including typing speed and the duration of keystrokes, TypingDNA’s platform can establish a profile of an end user that can be leveraged for authentication; anomalies in typing behavior, meanwhile, can serve as indications of potential fraud.
The fundamental technology underlying this approach to security can also be used to learn more about the psychological profile of an end user, as TypingDNA is now seeking to demonstrate in its wellness application.
TypingDNA first launched its Focus app in a research phase in December of 2020. Since then, the company has gathered 2 million data points on which to refine its model. Work on the solution is ongoing. In a blog post, Product Manager Victor Pop said that the TypingDNA team “is tinkering away to add even more functionality, moods, actionable insights, and even a mobile version to keep track of your mental health and productivity on the go.”
That’s why the company is now inviting more macOS users to download the free TypingDNA Focus BETA app. The company is also working on a Windows version, which is “coming soon,” according to Pop’s post.
